What kind of in-flight catering is available on a private jet?

The standard snacks and drinks for a private jet include:

  • Chips
  • Pretzels
  • Cookies
  • Water
  • Juices
  • Regular soft drinks
  • Sugar-free soft drinks
  • Miniature liquor and wine bottles (selected aircraft)

Any other catering arrangements must be ordered separately.

Will location affect the choice of food available on board my flight?

You can order some of the tasty local cuisine options for your catering on board. For example, if you’re flying in Nigeria, you could sample the delicious tiger shrimp – or in Zurich, a helping of their famous Zürcher Geschnetzeltes.

You won’t be able to pick and choose from the local area, but if a local dish is well-known and readily available, there’s a good chance it can be ordered for you.

What can I expect for breakfast on board my private jet?

Here are some of the breakfast items you can order on your flight:

  • Assorted breakfast sandwiches
  • Exotic fruit bowl
  • Oatmeal
  • Bread basket with muffins & croissants
  • Breakfast teas
  • Cakes
  • Water
  • Coffee
  • Juice
  • Milk

Egg dishes cannot be prepared in-flight, so if you’re absolutely craving an omelet, you’ll need to have it prepared ahead of takeoff.

What can I expect for lunch on board my private jet?

Here are some of the lunch items you can order on your flight:

  • Finger sandwiches
  • Salad
  • Pasta
  • Ice cream
  • Vegetables
  • Rice
  • Soft drinks
  • Alcoholic beverages

Though this may sound like a basic selection, it can still be high-end. For example, you might order lobster sandwiches and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue, or your favorite beer. Ice cream is packed on dry ice, so it stays frosty long into the flight.

In short, anything that doesn’t need to be cooked can be ordered. Hot food must be precooked, then warmed on board.

Lunch options vary depending on the aircraft. Smaller planes might only have a microwave to warm things up. The caterer will plate everything in containers that will either be made for a warming oven or for a microwave. Larger jets are better-equipped.

What can I expect for dinner on board my private jet?

Here are some of the dinner items you can order on your flight:

  • Chicken
  • White fish
  • Pasta
  • Salad
  • Vegetables
  • Canapes
  • Choice of desserts
  • Soft drinks
  • Alcoholic beverages

Chicken and white fish are among the most popular dinner choices. If you’re unsure what your passengers would like, we recommend a mix; for example, on an 8-person flight, you could order four chicken meals and four white fish meals.

Try to avoid red meat, as many passengers consider it overdone once heated on the plane. When it comes to desserts, a wide choice is available. The same can be said for drinks, and the flight attendant can even fix you a specialty drink if requested in advance.

It might be tempting to order a lot of food, but remember that galley capacity is limited. If your order doesn’t fit in the galley, it will need to be placed on a seat, which means space for one less passenger. If there’s not a spare seat, the food will not be brought on board.

If you’re flying internationally and stop for customs, all catering will be removed. Your broker should set up fresh catering to go on board again if needed, such as when you have a long journey ahead to your final destination.

Is there any need to have a chef on board?

There is little point in hiring a chef for your private jet charter flight, because they’re not allowed to cook on board.

There are a few instances where you may want to hire a chef. For example, if you have special dietary requirements and want a chef you know and trust, or if you need the chef’s services at your destination.

Can I order catering suited to various dietary restrictions?

Most in-flight catering companies can prepare meals or snacks for any dietary restrictions. This includes gluten-free, vegan, and nut-free, as well as any other type of food due to allergies or personal preference. Your broker should ask you about this when discussing catering, and they’ll inform the catering company of your preferences.
