More about the Learjet 60XR

Originally developed to replace the Learjet 55 in 1993, the Learjet 60 is primarily known for being the first Learjet to feature a stand-up cabin in addition to a full-size lavatory. After delivering over 300 of the Learjet 60 model, Bombardier upgraded the aircraft to the SE version, which included all of the extras that were optional in the original version. The 60XR version is a further improvement over the SE, offering a more space-efficient interior among other upgrades. The 60XR first flew in 2006 and officially entered service in 2007. Its most notable improvements over the Learjet 55 model are its increase in performance capabilities, size, and cost-effectiveness. Performance improvements are thanks largely in part to its PW305 turbofan engines, which previous models did not have. These engines are more advanced and offer more power than previous entries. Although it is the last turbofan iteration of the Learjet legacy, it still holds its place as one of the best options for a medium-range midsize business jet.

Key Features of the Learjet 60XR

To many travelers, the Learjet 60XR's most notable improvement over its predecessors may be its interior cabin atmosphere. Its cabin dimensions of 17' 7" length, 5' 10" width, and 5' 7" height may not be the largest in its class, but it is a significant improvement over its predecessor considering that it is 43 inches longer and 3 inches wider than the Learjet 55 series. Although the business jet can carry a maximum capacity of eight passengers, it is optimized to transport seven passengers with maximum comfort and luxury. Comfortable club seating arrangements with first-class seats, retractable worktables, and ample legroom provide the aircraft with the foundation for a comfortable flight. The upgrade also features many design improvements including increased storage space that can store 59 cubic feet of baggage, a larger galley, customizable floor plans, and a cabin management system, which allows for electronic power and control modules. Altogether, the Learjet 60XR is a significant upgrade across the board.

Capabilities of the Learjet 60XR

Featuring two powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada PWC305A engines each with 4,600 lbs of thrust, the Learjet 60XR has considerably more thrusting power than the 55 series. Its climbing speed is faster than any other midsize jet and can climb at a rate of 6,000 feet per minute. Its maximum range of 2,405 nautical miles provides great flexibility for travelers looking for private transcontinental travel solutions. The 60XR has a maximum cruise speed of 466 ktas, which allows its passengers to reach their destinations as quickly and efficiently as possible. With a high certified flight ceiling of 51,000 feet, the 60XR is capable of avoiding most air traffic and weather conditions. Strapping all these performance features into a tight value package, the Learjet 60XR still maintains excellent fuel economy due to its innovative and efficient design. The Learjet line has maintained a reputation for excellent performance in cost-effective solutions and this still holds true with the 60XR. If you are looking for a fast, high-performing, medium-range aircraft, the Learjet 60XR is the aircraft for you.
